The Finger Lakes and GLOW region know how to throw a county fair, and a couple of the best are still ahead of us this summer. Expect harness racing, historic fairgrounds, farm animals, and plenty of midway lights within an easy drive of Rochester.
Orleans County 4-H Fair (Albion): July 27 to August 1
Up in Albion, the Orleans County 4-H Fair puts the kids front and center. It's a youth-driven fair, so you'll see plenty of 4-H animals, exhibits, and competitions, along with rides and food at a family-friendly price. It's a great low-key first fair for younger children.

Wayne County Fair (Palmyra): August 10 to 16
The Wayne County Fair in Palmyra is one of the oldest and best-loved fairs in the state, celebrating its 169th year in 2026. The Palmyra Union Agricultural Society has run it since 1856, and its Floral Hall has been in continuous use ever since. Come for the harness racing, figure-8 racing, demolition derbies, and a bull-riding rodeo, and stay for the classic fair food and cheap admission.
